Orbital Marine Power is developing plans for the Westray Tidal Array in the Westray Firth, Orkney.

The project would involve installing around 70 floating tidal turbines, generating up to 170 MW of renewable electricity.  The development would also involve moorings, seabed anchors and inter-array and electrical export cables.

Before submitting any applications, we are carrying out a Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) to give local communities, stakeholders and other interested parties an opportunity to learn more about the project and share their views.

Join Our Public Consultation Event

We’re holding a public drop-in event where you can find out more about the project and speak directly with the team:

Thursday 11 June 2026
2pm – 8pm
Friends Room, St Magnus Centre, Palace Rd., Kirkwall

You are welcome to attend at any time during these hours. Members of the project team will be available to answer questions and discuss the proposals.

We recognise that travelling to Kirkwall can be challenging, particularly for those based on other islands.  If you are unable to attend but would still like to find out more or share your views, please get in touch to arrange a call or meeting.
